When to Visit Jamaica
Jamaica is warm throughout the year. December to April is generally the driest and most popular time to visit, with lower humidity and excellent conditions for beaches and exploring. May and June bring more tropical showers, while July can offer a slightly drier interval before the wetter autumn months. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November, with the greatest activity usually between mid-August and mid-October. Conditions also vary across the island, with Port Antonio generally greener and wetter than the west and south. I'll help you choose the right time and coast for the holiday you have in mind.

The North Coast
Jamaica's north coast offers the island's widest choice of luxury resorts, family-friendly hotels and private villas, with convenient access through Montego Bay. Jamaica is welcoming visitors, but recovery has not been uniform. Many hotels and attractions are open, particularly in Negril, Ocho Rios and Port Antonio, while some properties around Montego Bay and the south coast remain closed or have later reopening dates. Before recommending anywhere, I check the latest travel advice, local conditions and the status of the individual hotel, so you are not relying on outdated information.
Negril is known for Seven Mile Beach, beautiful sunsets and a slower, more laid-back atmosphere. Montego Bay has smaller beaches, but offers a shorter airport transfer and a wider choice of resorts, restaurants and golf. The right choice depends on whether your priority is a long stretch of sand, an easy arrival or having more facilities close by.
Montego Bay is usually the most convenient airport for Negril, Montego Bay and much of the north coast. Kingston is better placed for the capital, the Blue Mountains, Port Antonio and parts of the south and east. Ocho Rios can be reached from either. I'll compare the available flights and transfer times before deciding which airport makes most sense for your itinerary.
It can be an excellent choice if you want an easy family holiday or the freedom to relax without thinking about every meal and drink. However, Jamaica has far more to experience beyond its resorts. I can include private excursions, local restaurants and time exploring the island, or combine a resort stay with a smaller hotel or villa.
Yes. December to April is generally Jamaica's driest period, with warm temperatures, lower humidity and good conditions for beaches and exploring. Christmas, New Year and the school holidays command higher prices, but there can be better value outside those peak dates. I'll consider the weather, availability and the latest recovery position when recommending when and where to stay.
Seven nights works well if you want to stay in one area and combine beach time with a few excursions. Direct flights from the UK take around ten hours, however, and your arrival and departure days will only be partial days. If you want to combine the coast with Kingston, the Blue Mountains or Port Antonio, I would allow at least ten nights so the journey does not feel dominated by transfers.
